THE TEAM NEWS

BRISBANE BRONCOS

  • Brisbane Broncos claimed a fifth win in succession to keep their minor Premiership dream alive as they got the better of Queensland rivals North Queensland Cowboys last week.
  • The Broncos were too good for the home side as they earned what turned out to be a comfortable success despite being without Adam Reynolds and the influential halfback is back on deck for this encounter.

Starting 13: Walsh, Mariner, Staggs, Farnworth, Cobbo, Mam, Reynolds, Flegler, Walters, Haas, Capewell, Riki, Carrigan – Interchanges: Smoothy, Piakura, Hetherington, Palasia – Reserves: Jensen, Willison, Sailor, Madden, Pereira

Unavailable: Corey Oates (Injured), Jesse Arthars (Injured), Martin Taupau (Suspended)

PARRAMATTA EELS

  • Parramatta Eels claimed a controversial victory over St. George Illawarra Dragons to remain in contention for a top eight spot but they will need to go up a level or two if they are to make the finals.
  • The Eels needed to fight back from a 10-point deficit with just 20 minutes remaining against the struggling Dragons but will believe they can improve here and have opted to play Daejarn Asi in the centres with Bailey Simonsson reverting to the wing.

Starting 13: Gutherson, Simonsson, Penisini, Asi, Russell, Brown, Moses, Ofahengaue, Lussick, Paulo, Davey, Cartwright, Hopgood – Interchanges: Moretti, Matterson, Greig, Hands – Reserves: Makatoa, Blake, Ogden, Rodwell, Murchie

Unavailable: Josh Hodgson (Injured), Reagan Campbell-Gillard (Suspended), Maika Sivo (Suspended), Shaun Lane (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Brisbane Broncos are locked in a battle with Penrith Panthers to land the minor Premiership with the Broncos showing their strength in depth having won their last five. They were superb in seeing off North Queensland Cowboys without Adam Reynolds last week and will be firmly confident of securing another win as they take on Parramatta Eels. The away side are aiming to keep their own season alive but have only won two of their last five and with their performances lacking the quality required to topple the better sides in the league, it is hard to see beyond Brisbane in this one.
