THE TEAM NEWS

PARRAMATTA EELS

Starting 13: Gutherson, Sivo, Opacic, Niukore, Ferguson, D. Brown, Moses, Campbell-Gillard, Mahoney, Paulo, Lane, Papali’i, N. Brown – Interchanges: Kaufusi, Smith, Cartwright, Stone – Reserves: Hipgrave, Cartwright

Unavailable: Michael Jennings (Suspended), Michael Oldfield (Injured), Waqa Blake (Injured), Ryan Matterson (Injured)

  • Parramatta Eels were given a late scare by Wests Tigers last week but they held on and scored a couple of tries before the hooter to secure another victory, making it four from four to begin the new campaign.
  • The Eels had to dig deep because of Wests seeing more of the ball and an area for improvement for Parramatta will be their ball retention having made 12.5 errors per game on average so far this season.

ST. GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS

Starting 13: Dufty, Ramsey, Bird, Lomax, Ravalawa, Norman, Clune, Lawrie, McCullough, Vaughan, Kerr, Sims, Fuimaono – Interchanges: Merrin, Alvaro, Wiliame, Ford – Reserves: Ellis, Pereira

Unavailable: Jack de Belin (Suspended), Cameron McInnes (Injured), Jayden Sullivan (Injured), Ben Hunt (Injured)

  • St. George Illawarra Dragons maintained their fine start to the season as they made it three wins in succession with a victory on the road against Newcastle Knights last week but this will be their toughest test of the campaign so far.
  • The Dragons were the beneficiaries as the Knights suffered some key injuries during their encounter but St. George once again showed enough on both sides of the ball to suggest that they could compete for a top eight spot this season.

THE PREDICTION

St. George Illawarra Dragons have made a strong start to the campaign having won three in a row but this trip to Bankwest to face Parramatta Eels will be a real indicator of how good they are. They have performed better than expected so far but the Eels are four from four and rarely lose at home so this will be a very difficult task for the away side. There is still more to come from the Eels and while the Dragons can cause them some issues here, the hosts should ultimately come out on top to remain unbeaten.
