THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, J. Morris, Manu, B. Morris, Keary, Flanagan, Waerea-Hargreaves, Friend, Taukeiaho, Cordner, Crichton, Radley – Interchanges: Verrills, Liu, Butcher, Tupouniua – Reserves: , Aubusson, Lam

Unavailable: Billy Smith (Injured), Lindsay Collins (Injured)

  • Sydney Roosters started their game with Canterbury Bulldogs in ruthless fashion as they carried on where they left off against Brisbane Broncos to make it three successive victories thanks to a one-sided display on Monday.
  • James Tedesco marked his return to the side with a hat-trick as the world’s best player tore the Bulldogs to shreds as the Roosters ran in 42 points to make it 101 in their last two matches, conceding just six in the process as the reigning premiers build up a head of steam.
  • The comfortable win over the Bulldogs may not be the most ideal preparation for this game with the unbeaten Parramatta Eels but they will be extremely confident, especially with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves back in the side following a minor back issue with Lindsay Collins dropping out 24 hours before kick-off with an injury while Sam Verrills replaces Mitchell Aubusson.

PARRAMATTA EELS

Starting 13: Gutherson, Sivo, M. Jennings, Blake, Ferguson, D. Brown, Moses, Campbell-Gillard, Mahoney, Paulo, Lane, Matterson, N. Brown – Interchanges: Stone, Niukore, Kaufusi, Terepo – Reserves: Takairangi, G. Jennings

Unavailable: Kane Evans (Suspended)

  • Parramatta Eels had to show some real character to come out on top of their Western Sydney derby with Penrith Panthers as they fought back from 0-10 down in the final quarter of the game thanks to a superb spell where they notched three tries in a six-minute spell.
  • That superb comeback ensured the Eels maintained their 100% record and come into this huge clash at the top of the ladder with the highest average possession in the NRL so far this season with 57% with their ball retention likely to be crucial against the reigning premiers.
  • Brad Arthur does not tend to tinker with his Parramatta side unless he has to and this is one of those occasions with Kane Evans copping a ban last week so he makes way for Oregon Kaufusi in the only change to last week’s 17.

THE PREDICTION

This could be the game of Round 6 as last year’s champions Sydney Roosters take on the unbeaten Parramatta Eels. The Roosters have shown their attacking prowess in their last two matches with some brilliant tries which has seen them amass a three-figure points total. They will not have things as easy against the Eels who will relish this clash, especially with it being played at Bankwest Stadium even though the Roosters are listed as the home side. Parramatta have earned many admirers so far this season but their 100% record will come under threat here and the Roosters should be able to condemn them to their first defeat of the season to make it four wins in a row against the Eels.
