- Gold Coast Titans put in another solid display as they made it back-to-back wins for the first time this season by beating Canterbury Bulldogs last week and they will now look for a third success in a row.
- They did what was required in a fairly scrappy affair but did outscore their opponents by four tries to three in the deserved win and will be full of confidence ahead of this Queensland derby with Brisbane Broncos.
- Justin Holbrook will be without the services of injured duo Brian Kelly and Jaimin Jolliffe as well as Keegan Hipgrave who is a late withdrawal with a groin issue so Treymain Spry and Jai Whitbread are the new faces in this week’s 17.

- Brisbane Broncos put in a valiant effort against league leaders Penrith Panthers as they prevented them from running away with the game but they did not do enough in the middle part of the game to stay with their opponents.
- The Broncos were beaten for the eighth game in succession and must now attempt to halt that run against Queensland rivals Gold Coast Titans but they will have to show further signs of improvement to come out on top after last week’s 12-25 reverse.
- Jamil Hopoate and Jordan Riki both copped suspensions in the game with Penrith so they will be sidelined but Alex Glenn is back from injury and Joe Ofahengaue returns from suspension to bolster the pack while Xavier Coates replaces Ethan Bullemor on the bench.
THE PREDICTION
This Queensland derby takes on plenty of significance for both teams but for very different reasons as Gold Coast Titans look to make it three wins in a row as they continue to impress in Justin Holbrook’s first season in charge. The Broncos could still end up with the wooden spoon so they too will be desperate to pick up the win, especially with some personal pride on the line too. The Titans have never defeated the Broncos twice in the same season but that is achievable for them here and they can make history by doing just that in what would be Brisbane’s ninth consecutive loss.
