TOMMY PAUL & TAYLOR FRITZ VS DANIEL EVANS & ANDY MURRAY PREDICTION

Unless you’re a fan of Team USA, it’s fair to say that Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz are the villains of this particular encounter. In Dan Evans and Andy Murray, they face a team who have saved seven match points (or in Murray’s case, career points) over the course of the previous two rounds. Both times the Team GB pair dramatically edged through via a ‘super tie-break’, winning 11-9 on each occasion. But Paul and Fritz will want to make sure this quarter-final doesn’t go the distance.

The cohesive nature of Paul and Fritz as a duo have helped see them through to the last eight without dropping a set, with both players known for the power they possess, which is likely to push both Evans and Murray to their limits. However, you simply cannot expect the latter two to just go quietly and the magical nature of the Olympics could well see us treated to another absorbing Roland-Garros clash.

Neither two sets are likely to be blowouts and both could end up lasting the distance. Therefore, the shrewd play would be to back over 20.5 total games to be played across this quarter-final, but the actual outcome is very hard to call. If Paul and Fritz are at their best, they should win, but one can’t help but feel it is written in the Paris stars here for Evans and Murray to progress.

TOMMY PAUL & TAYLOR FRITZ VS DANIEL EVANS & ANDY MURRAY TIP: OVER 20.5 TOTAL GAMES
