Croatian star Donna Vekic comes into this clash in strong form having eased through both rounds so far and showing she hasn’t lost a step since her run to the semi-finals at Wimbledon. Clay has not been her best surface throughout her career but she is playing as well as ever right now.
Coco Gauff has looked imperious so far losing just five games across her two matches so far. Unlike Vekic, Gauff has pedigree on clay having reached the French Open final in 2022. The 20-year-old has belief she can go far at Paris 2024, and you would not bet against her based on her opening two performances.
Both players come into this in strong form but it is Gauff who has to be favoured. She is the better player on clay and while Vekic will compete hard and is playing some great tennis these days, Gauff should have the edge.
