His ability to not only make brilliant individual plays, but also to inspire his teammates is the defining strength in France and ‘Wemby’ makes those around him better.
This is a must-win game for Japan and bringing their best on the court would push France very close. But it’s difficult to see their players being able to handle the giant figure of Wembanyama who in a potentially tight contest is likely to wind up being the difference-maker.
