After losing out in agonising fashion last time out against host nation France, going down 90-94 in overtime, Japan’s players need to pick themselves back up and go again in what is a must-win game. Their offensive is stronger than that of Brazil, but they simply must tighten up defensively to win, having given up 27 more points than their opponents.
Brazil have competed well across the group stage so far, but the gap in class has been prominent from their point of view. It may well be the case that Brazil don’t have the overall ability to take full advantage of playing a struggling defence and that Japan ends up getting the better of them.
