WOMEN’S KEIRIN

What time is the women’s Keirin taking place? UK – 6:11pm / France – 7:11pm / US ET – 1:11pm / US PT – 10:11am

Where is the women’s Keirin taking place? Velodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s Keirin? Shanne Braspennincx (NED)

PREDICTION

Defending champion of this event Shanne Braspennincx is not in Paris so we will have a new winner of the women’s Keirin. At the 2023 World Championships, it was the 2020 silver medallist, Ellesse Andrews, who took home the gold medal in Glasgow.

There is one rider that is clearly expected to be faster than everybody else, though, and that is 21-year-old Emma Finucane. The Brit, who helped Team GB with gold in the Team Pursuit the other day, doesn’t necessarily have the experience for what is a very tactical event to be seen as the overwhelming favourite. Given the value to be had, as well as how well she qualified, backing Andrews looks a good bet.

TIP: ELLESSE ANDREWS (NZL) TO WIN

WOMEN’S TAEKWONDO -57KG

What time is the women’s Taekwondo -57kg taking place? UK – 8:37pm / France – 7:37pm / US ET – 1:37pm / US PT – 10:37am

Where is the women’s Taekwondo -57kg taking place? Grand Palais, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s Taekwondo -57kg? Anastasija Zolotic (USA)

PREDICTION

In this event at London 2012, Wales’ Jade Jones took home the gold medal for Great Britain. In this event at Rio 2016, Wales’ Jade Jones took home the gold medal for Great Britain. She then suffered a shock early defeat in Tokyo to end her hopes of three successive wins.

However, in the meantime, she has rebuilt herself once again to being the number three ranked fighter in her weight class and returned to the gold medal podium at the Grand Prix in both Rome and Paris last year. Backing Jones to come back for a third gold would a special story.

TIP: JADE JONES (GBR) TO WIN

MEN’S 200M

What time is the men’s 200m taking place? UK – 7:30pm / France – 8:30pm / US ET – 2:30pm / US PT – 11:30am

Where is the men’s 200m taking place? Stade de France, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the men’s 200m? Andre De Grasse (CAN)

Who is the current world record holder of the men’s 200m? Usain Bolt (JAM) with 19.19 in Berlin in 2009

PREDICTION

We have one of the showpiece events of any Olympic games as the men’s 200m final takes place on Thursday with three of the semi-final qualifiers from Wednesday evening being from the United States in what looks likely to be a USA-dominated event.

Noah Lyles, who won the men’s 100m at the weekend, qualified third fastest for the final behind compatriot Kenneth Bednarek and Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo. Despite Tebogo’s impressive defeat of Lyles in the semis, though, it is the American who is expected to make it a famous double in Paris.

TIP: NOAH LYLES (USA) TO WIN
