DETROIT LIONS

• Detroit had a tough season under rookie head coach Matt Patricia but he will take charge again as they look to improve on their 6-10 year in what looks like an extremely tough NFC North division.
• The Lions had a brilliant off-season with them managing to pick up a strong set of players in free agency including RB C.J. Anderson who did an impressive job late in the season for the Rams last year.
• Five players are among the Lions’ injury list with all of them limited participants in the first two practice sessions of the week with DE Trey Flowers the man that Detroit will be most eager to suit-up on Sunday.

ARIZONA CARDINALS

• Arizona reacted to their terrible season in which they only won three games by firing Steve Wilks and hiring Kliff Kingsbury as their new head coach in what looks to be a very interesting appointment.
• The Cardinals traded QB Josh Rosen to the Dolphins and used the number one overall pick in the draft to select Kyler Murray to replace him and they will hope he can hit the ground running.
• OL Lamont Gallard missed the first two practices of the week and looks to be in doubt for this game with a knee injury whilst ILBs Haason Reddick and Ezekiel Turner have also been limited.

THE PREDICTION

Arizona will be hoping a fresh direction can lead to a better season after head coach Steve Wilks was fired in favour of rookie Kliff Kingsbury whilst the Cardinals also switched QBs. They face a Lions outfit that recruited well in the off-season and can pick up the win with their new-look side. The game could go either way but it will take a big turnaround for the Cardinals to change their fortunes from last year and the Lions can capitalise in this opening game.
