ROBERT WHITTAKER: AUSSIE STAR REFUSING TO LEAVE TITLE PICTURE

After Robert Whittaker (26-7) lost to Dricus du Plessis in a UFC middleweight title eliminator fight, it would have been easy for the Australian superstar to lose a step and fade somewhat. That has not happened and in fact, Whittaker looked better than ever when he knocked out Ikram Aliskerov back in June in Saudi Arabia. He now takes the bout that very few middleweights wanted to take and that is Khamzat Chimaev. Whittaker has fought some supreme wrestlers and powerhouses in his time like Yoel Romero and he has come out on top. He will have to be at his best to stop the formidable Chimaev from controlling this bout as he has done so often.

KHAMZAT CHIMAEV: WRESTLING REVELATION AIMING TO CONTINUE STUNNING STREAK

UFC sensation Khamzat Chimaev (13-0) faces the toughest test of his career so far as he comes up against Whittaker. He has risen to every challenge thrown at him by UFC matchmakers to date including Kamaru Usman last time out, and now he faces Whittaker. Chimaev has everything, dominant wrestling along with knockout power that is all based upon his incredible strength. He will want to get this to the ground and smother Whittaker as he has done so often and make it a 14th successive MMA win.

ROBERT WHITTAKER VS KHAMZAT CHIMAEV PREDICTION

This match is as exciting as any on the card and we will see whether Khamzat Chimaev has what it takes to beat another superstar of the UFC’s middleweight division. It has been almost a year since his last fight and the buzz around him subsided a little but he is back and a win here will catapult him right into title contention.

Robert Whittaker should not be underestimated however and the Aussie will relish the opportunity to stop the Chimaev train. He is as capable as anybody and he will want to test Chimaev’s chin of which there have been a few signs of weakness on the odd occasion.

We find it hard to look beyond Chimaev however here and that is fairly naturally given we have never seen him lose. He just looks so strong and powerful that only a knockout is likely to beat him. Whittaker is more than capable of doing just that but we just edge Chimaev getting control over the course of the bout to get the win either by decision or late stoppage.

PREDICTION: KHAMZAT CHIMAEV TO WIN
