TREVOR PEEK VS YANAL ASHMOUZ LOWDOWN

After an eight-fight win streak saw Trevor Peek (9-2) earn a shot in the UFC, the Alabama native has since lost two of his last three fights in the Octagon. The 29-year-old has seen his last three fights all go the distance and while he got the decision against Mohammad Yahya, it went against him versus Jose Mariscal and most recently against Charlie Campbell at UFC Fight Night 240 in April.

He meets Israeli 29-year-old Yanal Ashmouz who opened his professional MMA career with seven consecutive wins. His UFC debut in March 2023 saw him knockout Sam Patterson after just 75 seconds but he since lost a unanimous decision to Chris Duncan last July. It emerged after the fight that he broke his wrist in the first round of that fight and that has since led to over a year of inactivity while it heals. He now returns to face Peek and build on his 7-1 record.

TREVOR PEEK VS YANAL ASHMOUZ PREDICTION

This lightweight match-up could well be the most entertaining bout on paper so it will be interesting to see if it lives up to its hype. Trevor Peek has seen eight of his nine MMA wins come via KO/TKO and six of those have come in the first round. Yanal Ashmouz exploded onto the UFC scene with a first-round knockout and only two of his eight fights have gone the distance so it seems unlikely the judges will be required in this one.

Peek has the knockout power that can win him the fight any time. Ashmouz is arguably the more well-rounded of the two fighters and can mix it up on the ground as well as strike. We prefer him stylistically and he will likely want to take this deep to avoid Peek’s early bombardment. If he can, then expect him to take over and at least win on the scorecards, but do not rule out a stoppage given how dangerous this pair are.

PREDICTION: Yanal Ashmouz to win
