ODE OSBOURNE VS ASSU ALMABAEV LOWDOWN

Ode Osbourne (12-5(1)) only had four minutes of cage time last year. He sparked out Zarrukh Adashev and then got a taste of his own medicine fed by Tyson Nam. He returned six months later in February this year to fight Charles Johnson in a more measured fight squeaking by with a split decision win to take his UFC tally to 4-3.

Now, he welcomes Assu Almabaev (17-2) to the big time. He is coming in hot riding a 13-fight win streak including two knockouts and five submissions. He is coming off three fights for Brave FC last year where he outpointed Imran Magaramov and Zach Makovsky before submitting Kenneth Maningat.

ODE OSBOURNE VS ASSU ALMABAEV PREDICTION

A lot of fighters arrive to the UFC with an impressive record, but that does not always mean they are UFC calibre. Unfortunately for Osbourne, Almabaev certainly is and he will have his hands full here.

This is a tough debut for the Kazakhstani as well. Osbourne is experienced, has dangerous striking and as we saw in his last fight, he can also wrestle. This will be the toughest fight of Almabaev’s career, however he can stand toe-to-toe with Osbourne in the striking exchanges and also has the ability to out grapple him.

This should be an exciting fight and we are leaning towards Almabaev who’s grappling should be enough to take the fight away from Osbourne and even get a late submission. He is the favourite, so Osbourne is the smart pick especially if the octagon jitters hit.

Prediction: Almabaev via Submission

Value bet: Osbourne to win
