MATT SCHNELL VS CODY DURDEN LOWDOWN

UFC veteran Matt Schnell (16-8) returns to the Octagon desperate to get back to winning ways after losing his last two bouts. After being knocked out by Matheus Nicolau in December 2022, Schnell had time away from fighting due to a number of injuries seeing fights cancelled. He returned in March this year at UFC Fight Night 238 and he suffered a second successive KO at the hands of Steve Erceg and now he looks to bounce back from that and get his career back on track.

Fair play to Cody Durden (16-6-1) for stepping up on short notice to replace Alessandro Costa. He too is coming off back-to-back losses and his last defeat – a TKO loss to Bruno Silva – came just seven weeks ago. That is an extremely short turnaround to get back in the Octagon.

MATT SCHNELL VS CODY DURDEN PREDICTION

This fight has been hastily rearranged and that can often lead to somewhat unexpected results in some cases. It is hard to love Durden who was TKO’d just seven weeks ago but Schnell’s record in recent times has been miserable. He has only fought twice in the last two years and has been knocked out in both of those fights.

Durden is desperate to be active and while he has lost his last two fights, he remains clearly ambitious to move back up the bantamweight rankings. Our preference is with Durden to get back in the win column here and the short turnaround may actually be a positive for him unless there are any lingering physical issues.

PREDICTION: Cody Durden to win
