MACKENZIE DERN VS LOOPY GODINEZ LOWDOWN
Mackenzie Dern (13-5) seems to have hit her ceiling going 2-4 in her last six. She lost a decision to Marina Rodriguez (2021), earnt one back over Tecia Torres (2022), lost another to Xiaonan Yan (2022) and responded again against Angela Hill 2023). However, she is coming off a ruthless TKO courtesy of Jessica Andrade (2023) and unanimous decision loss to Amanda Lemos (2024) denting her UFC record down to 8-5.
Loopy Godinez (12-4) still has potential to fill and has racked up 11 UFC fights in just three years. She did not fare as well against Hill (2022) losing a unanimous decision but went on to string four wins together over Cynthia Calvillo (2023), Emily Ducote (2023), Elise Reed (2023) and Tabatha Ricci (2023). However, Virna Jandiroba (2024) halted the momentum with a unanimous decision.
MACKENZIE DERN VS LOOPY GODINEZ PREDICTION
Dern’s UFC record is patchy, but she has only lost to top ranked fighters who can defend takedowns. Godinez has not worked her way up the rankings yet, but she is a superb wrestler.
If she leverages it to keep the fight on the feet, she can win this, but one mistake and she will get caught. Dern has the best jiu-jitsu we have seen in women’s MMA and even though Godinez has good submission skills herself, she can not afford to tangle with her.
So, this will come down to Godinez’s strategy. She has the skill to keep this on the feet and win the striking exchanges, but if she has the ego to grapple, Dern is the value bet.
