KYUNG HO KANG VS MUIN GAFUROV LOWDOWN
Kyung Ho Kang (19-10(1)) got a rare two fights in a year in 2023. He was coming off a unanimous decision win over Batgerel Danaa in his sole outing of 2022. He made it two on the bounce with a slick submission over Cristian Quinonez however, he ended the year with a disappointing unanimous decision loss to John Castaneda chipping his UFC record down to 8-4(1).
Muin Gafurov (18-6) is still searching for his first UFC win after two attempts last year. He arrived to the UFC off the back of two brilliant knockouts for the Legacy Fighting Alliance. However, he has found life tougher in the big time also losing a unanimous decision to Castaneda and getting submitted by Said Nurmagomedov at UFC 294.
KYUNG HO KANG VS MUIN GAFUROV PREDICTION
Despite being on a two-fight skid, expect Gafurov to bring a pace, walk Kang down and throw a lot of volume. He is a very strong grappler and will shoot in once he walks into range.
He will have to be careful in leaving his neck exposed as Kang has dangerous jiu-jitsu. He will also boast a five-inch reach advantage which he will leverage by popping his jab and striking from range. He will also throw leg kicks knowing Gafurov does not have the best defence.
As the fight goes on, we can see Gafurov getting the better of the striking exchanges forcing Kang to shoot in and try and get the fight to the floor. However, Gafurov has the wrestling to fend off the takedown attempts, inflict damage on the feet and earn a decision at least.
