KAI KARA-FRANCE VS STEVE ERCEG LOWDOWN

New Zealand flyweight Kai Kara-France comes into this bout ranked at number four in the division and this represents a golden opportunity for him to push for a title shot.

This is his first fight since a loss to Amir Albazi in June 2023. He did have a bout scheduled for September but withdrew due to a concussion sustained in training and that led to some time out of the Octagon for him.

He returns with a tough encounter but will be desperate to improve on his impressive 24-11 record (with one no contest) against Steve Erceg.

Erceg hails from Perth so expect the loudest cheer of the night to come for the 29-year-old. He has a record of 12-2 and after an 11-fight winning streak, he lost against Alexandre Pantoja by unanimous decision for the Flyweight Championship at UFC 301 in May. He looks to work his way back up the rankings and get back in contention with a win here.

KAI KARA-FRANCE VS STEVE ERCEG PREDICTION

These are two seriously tough competitors in the flyweight division and both Kara-France and Erceg will see this as a golden opportunity to catapult themselves back into title shot contention.

Erceg will have the crowd on his side given Perth is his home town and while he is coming off a loss, he can take heart from the defeat on points in his title shot. He arguably has improvements still to come while it may well be that Kara-France has hit his peak.

Given how tough and relentless both fighters are, we expect this fight to go the distance. We do however favour Erceg to gain more Octagon control over the course of the fight and edge it on the judges’ scorecards.

PREDICTION: Steve Erceg to win via decision
