Making his first walk to the UFC octagon this weekend, Joshua Weems (10-2) will be looking to set the promotion alight. After failing on the Dana White’s Contender Series, Weems would head back to the regional scene and impress many. Coming off of a win against Mo Miller, Weems will be itching to taste his first win with the UFC.
As for this weekend’s opponent, Christian Rodriguez (7-1) will be desperate to get back in the win column. Fighting out of Milwaukee, USA, Rodriguez is coming off of a defeat to Jonathan Pearce on his promotional debut. Prior to the defeat, Rodriguez caught the eye of many and he will be hoping to do the same again this weekend.

Heading into this weekend’s bantamweight bout, despite Weems having a slight height advantage, Rodriguez has the edge in the reach department.
With Rodriguez moving down to bantamweight, many will be looking to see how he will fare against a natural 135-pound fighter in Weems. With Weems stepping in on short notice, he will be desperate to get the win. Weems’ grappling and wrestling have come up clutch for him in the regional scene. However, it will be intriguing to see how his takedown attacks will go against the naturally bigger man. From the off, we suspect that Rodriguez will look to dictate the play and keep the fight standing. Once Rodriguez starts to assert his gameplan, he will then look to attack Weems on the feet and look for the finish.
