JOE SOLECKI VS CARL DEATON III LOWDOWN
Joe Solecki (12-3) was supposed to fight Benoit Saint-Denis last week but unfortunately the Frenchman pulled out with an ankle injury. Fortunately, Solecki’s training camp has not gone to waste as he is desperate to compile another win streak after losing a split decision to Jared Gordon (2021). He responded with a majority decision over Alex da Silva Coelho in June last year to take his UFC record to 4-1.
Carl Deaton III (17-5(2)) steps up for his UFC debut. He is an experienced fighter although it has all been for a variety of local promotions. He did make an appearance for the PFL although it was a split decision loss to Ajejandro Flores Garcia (2021) which was his second decision loss on the bounce. He has responded with a decision of his own over Justin Jaynes (2022 - TWC) and a submission over Antoine Blassingame (2022 - WXC).
JOE SOLECKI VS CARL DEATON III PREDICTION
This is a very different fight for Solecki although his game plan will not change. He will look to get his hands on Deaton as soon as possible and pounce on his back.
He is a good wrestler and has exceptional Brazilian jiu-jitsu as a black belt. He will also boast a three-inch height and reach advantage which will come in handy when trying to wrap up a submission.
Deaton is a decent striker and will be a threat on the feet, but as soon as Solecki gets his hands on him, he will look like a fish out of water. Deaton deserves a lot of credit for taking the fight, but we are expecting Solecki to smother him until he finds a submission.
