JEREMIAH WELLS VS MATTHEW SEMELSBERGER LOWDOWN

Jeremiah Wells (11-2-1) appears for the first time this year hoping to continue building his momentum. He arrived to the big time off the back off a knockout and submission in 2019. He eventually made his debut in 2021 and rose to the level effortlessly starching veteran Warlley Alves. He then submitted Mike Mathetha in the first round and followed that up by handing Court McGee just the second knockout of his 32-fight career which was also in the first round.

Fellow knockout artist Matthew Semelsberger (11-4) has shown a different string to his bow in recent fights. His last knockout was a quick dusting of Martin Sano (2021) and he went on to earn a more calculated unanimous decision over AJ Fletcher (2022). He then got outpointed by Alex Morono (2022) but he responded with the most impressive win of his career earning another unanimous decision over the talented Jake Matthews (2022).

JEREMIAH WELLS VS MATTHEW SEMELSBERGER PREDICTION

Semelsberger surprised a lot of people with his performance in his last outing. He will boast a three-inch height advantage but only an inch in reach. He is improving a lot, but this is a very tough match-up for him.

Wells is also an explosive finisher with buckets of power and athleticism. The stand-up battle will be a fascinating contest, but Wells has the edge when it comes to grappling.

He is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and if the fight hits the deck, he has the ability to pin Semelsberger down and and cinch up a submission, especially if Semelsberger is fatigued.

Semelsberger can cause havoc with his jab and his straight right is always money if it lands clean. We are leaning towards Wells with the grappling in the locker, but Semelberger is the value pick if he remains the underdog.
