GIGA CHIKADZE VS ALEX CACERES LOWDOWN
Giga Chikadze (14-3) finally emerges after getting his nine-fight win streak snapped over a year ago. He was coming off three vintage TKO’s on the trot putting away Jamey Simmons (2020), Cub Swanson (2021) and Edson Barboza (2021) earning three ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses in the process. He then met Calvin Kattar (2022) as the favourite and got humbled in a unanimous decision.
He takes on Alex Caceres (21-13(1)) who is enjoying a resurgence. In his first 20 UFC fights, he went 9-10(1) and in his last eight he has gone 7-1. That loss came to Sodiq Yusuff (2022) in a unanimous decision. However, he responded with one of the best knockouts of the year and majestic head kick on Julian Erosa (2022) and followed that up with a unanimous decision over Daniel Pineda back in June.
GIGA CHIKADZE VS ALEX CACERES PREDICTION
This is a mouth-watering contest and should be an exhilarating battle on the feet. Both fighters will be eyeing this match-up with glee knowing they will get to showcase their strengths.
This will be a real test of Chikadze character coming back off a rare loss against a veteran who is bang in form. He is the slightly bigger man and as striking goes, he is a better version of Caceres.
‘Bruce Leeroy’ is the better grappler and can submit him if they hit the deck. However, it is hard to see him taking Chikadze down, even if that is his plan’A’. So, we expect this to play out on the feet where we will be in for a spectacle.
Chikadze should land the more damaging blows particularly with his feet and considering his defence and Caceres’ lack of power, he should avoid any serious damage himself. Caceres is very durable, so we expect this to go to the bell unless the Georgian lands one of his perfect ‘Giga’ kicks.
