DANIEL RODRIGUEZ VS IAN GARRY LOWDOWN

Daniel Rodriguez’s (17-3) second surging run was finally derailed in November last year. Nicolas Dalby snapped a nine-fight win streak which included three UFC wins back in 2020. He then went on to pile up Mike Perry (2021), Preston Parsons (2021), Kevin Lee (2021) and Li Jingliang (2022) before meeting UFC veteran Neil Magny. It was less than a month after the Jingliang split decision and he got submitted for the first time in his career.

Ian Garry (11-0) takes a break from the pay-per-view cards to grace UFC on ABC 4. The prospect knocked out Jordan Williams (2021) on his UFC debut and went on to earn unanimous decisions over Darian Weeks (2022) and Gabe Green (2022). He then went on to rack up his sixth career knockout which he inflicted on Kenan Song back in March.

DANIEL RODRIGUEZ VS IAN GARRY PREDICTION

D-Rod is the biggest threat to Garry’s perfect record by far. It remains to be seen whether Garry is ready for this level as he has benefitted from kind matchmaking so far, but he has all of the weapons and attitude to make it to the top of the division.

Rodriguez is tough as nails and throws technical fire from his southpaw stance. He will test Garry’s suspect defence for as long as the fight lasts. What will make this a thriller is that Rodriguez also eats a lot of shots.

Neither of them have been knocked out before in their career, but we can certainly see one falling either way here. Rodriguez’s straight left will be money and he will also be a submission threat if Garry calls upon his judo.

Garry does not have a reach advantage, but he can strike from range with his jab and leg kicks. He has the speed to catch Rodriguez and the volume to overwhelm him if he starts quickly.

If Garry has not tightened up the holes in his defence, he will get humbled and considering he is the favourite, Rodriguez holds all of the value. That said, Garry is only getting better training at Kill Cliff FC and we have a feeling he could steal the show.
