CODY STAMANN VS TAYLOR LAPILUS LOWDOWN
Cody Stamann (21-6-1) appears for the first time this year after getting two fights in 2023. He went into the year having prevented a four-fight skid by knocking out Eddie Wineland (2022) and followed that up with a unanimous decision over Luan Lacerda (2023). However, he is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Douglas Silva de Andrade (2023) to go 7-5-1 in the UFC.
Taylor Lapilus (19-4) makes his second appearance of the year. He only fought once in 2023 however it was his UFC debut where he outpointed Caolan Loughran to extend his win streak to six. That led him into the path of the unbeaten Farid Basharat who extended his own unblemished record with a unanimous decision to snap the streak.

Both fighters are well-rounded, but we expect this to come down to Lapilus’ takedown defence. Stamann can strike, but he will be giving up nine inches in reach along with the speed advantage.
Stamann has the technique to hang with Lapilus on the feet, but his best chance of success is to get his wrestling boots on. We can see him controlling the Frenchman up against the fence for portions of the fight, but Lapilus’ takedown defence is too good to get controlled on the ground.
We expect Lapilus to work hard to keep the fight on the feet but create enough space to land the fight-winning damage and convince the judges.
