CHRIS WEIDMAN VS BRAD TAVARES LOWDOWN

Chris Weidman (15-6) has seen and done it all. He toppled the best middleweight of all time in Anderson Silva (2013) and defended the belt three times but then the losses poured in. He has gone 2-6 since taking some absolute beatings however, the biggest setback of his career came in his last fight against Uriah Hall (2021). He suffered an absolutely horrific leg break from the first kick he threw. Stepping back in the cage two years later could be his most impressive achievement.

Brad Tavares (19-8) welcomes him back and he is no stranger to duking it out with middleweight monsters. The veteran is 14-8 in the UFC and is coming off two losses. He got outpointed by Dricus du Plessis (2022) and knocked out by Bruno Silva back in April.

CHRIS WEIDMAN VS BRAD TAVARES PREDICTION

Weidman was well past his prime before the catastrophic injury so we cannot expect much from him. That said, he is used to coming back from major surgery and will bring his solid boxing and high-level wrestling to the octagon.

Tavares is also past his prime, but in much better shape. He is a more dynamic striker and he will hope the fight remains on the feet. We feel everyone in attendance will wince if Weidman throws any kicks. We expect him to feel out Tavares on the feet but should shoot in for the takedown sooner rather than later.

Tavares will be dangerous on the feet, durable and difficult to takedown. In all honesty, it is very difficult to predict what Weidman will look like on his return. He will have the crowd behind him, but considering he is lucky to be walking again, the smart pick is Tavares.

Prediction: Tavares via KO/TKO
