BILL ALGEO VS KYLE NELSON LOWDOWN
Bill Algeo (18-7) went into 2023 off the back of a disappointing split decision loss to Andre Fili. However, he redeemed himself by submitting TJ Brown in a ‘Fight of the Night’ display and then followed that up with a unanimous decision over Alexander Hernandez at UFC Fight Night 229 to bump his UFC tally up to 5-3.
Kyle Nelson (15-5-1) is enjoying a UFC resurgence. He went 1-4 in his first five between 2018 – 2022. He then met Doo Ho Choi at the start of last year and scraped a draw. However, the year ended much better picking up solid unanimous decisions over Blake Bilder and Fernando Padilla.
BILL ALGEO VS KYLE NELSON PREDICTION
Algeo will keep up a constant pace bouncing in and out of range with his karate style. He will try and overwhelm Nelson with his volume, and he also has a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt in the locker so we may also see the odd takedown attempt.
Nelson is also a striker by trade, and he will also try and enforce the pressure which will create an exciting scrap. He will try and slow the pace down and if he can conduct the tempo, he has a great chance is causing the upset.
However, we feel Algeo’s speed and volume will be enough to convince the judges sealing the deal with a couple takedowns.
