MELISSA MARTINEZ: MEXICAN STEPS IN TO REPLACE DOS SANTOS
Melissa Martinez (7-1) stepped in with six weeks’ notice to replace Rayanne dos Santos in this bout after the Brazilian broke her arm. The 27-year-old has had two years out of action due to multiple knee surgeries and she comes off the first loss of her career at UFC 279 where she dropped a unanimous decision to Elise Reed. Prior to that, she had won all seven of her professional MMA bouts but those all came in regional promotions.
ALICE ARDELEAN: ROMANIAN 32-YEAR-OLD TARGETS FIRST UFC WIN
32-year-old Romanian Alice Ardelean (9-6) is coming off a split decision loss at the hands of Shauna Bannon. That was her first fight in the UFC and she has a quick turnaround now from that fight at the end of July at UFC 304. Prior to that, she was on a five-fight win streak and she will look to get back to winning ways here.
MELISSA MARTINEZ VS ALICE ARDELEAN PREDICTION
Both Melissa Martinez and Alice Ardelean are somewhat unknowns in the UFC and both will be keen to get their first win in the Octagon. Ardelean has experience on her side and she also has been the more active of the two fighters due to Martinez’s injuries. Those two factors just see us lean towards Ardelean but this really is a bout that could go either way. The Romanian is the slight underdog and she offers the best value here.
PREDICTION: ALICE ARDELEAN TO WIN
