Luana Santos (6-1) responded to the first loss of her career with a unanimous decision over Waleska Sousa (2022) and submission over Bartira Rodrigues (2023) for LFA which led to her call-up to the UFC. She met Juliana Miller (2023) on for her debut and it could not have gone better reeling off a first-round knockout.
She now meets Stephanie Egger (8-4) who’s last four fights have ended via submission. She wrapped up Jessica-Rose Clark (2022) in an armbar and then got a taste of her own medicine served up by Mayra Bueno Silva (2022). She responded with a rear-naked choke on Ailin Perez (2022) but is now coming off a kneebar to Irina Alekseeva (2023) to drop to 3-3 in the UFC.

This is a very intriguing match-up between two strong judoka practitioners. It is usually their first point of call, especially Egger who does not have much confidence in her striking. She is certainly more accomplished in judo and will back her skills to put Santos on her back.
The Brazilian also needs to work on her striking, but she will back her hands against Egger and we can see her winning the exchanges with her power and aggression. If Egger is persistent with the takedown, she can grind out a decision, but we can see their grappling skills cancelling each other out forcing more striking which will suit Santos.
