FARID BASHARAT: FEROCIOUS FARID PUTS 100% RECORD ON THE LINE

Afghan-born English mixed martial artist Farid Basharat (12-0) has his fourth fight in the UFC and talented bantamweight will be fired up to extend his 100% record. The 27-year-old built his resume in the regional scene in the UK but after getting his shot via Dana White’s Contender Series, has shown his ability by stepping up to the top level. He has won all three fights since joining the promotion and will be confident he can make it a fourth in Abu Dhabi.

VICTOR HUGO: VETERAN BRAZILIAN LOOKING TO PLAY SPOILER

Victor Hugo (25-4) is another graduate of Dana White’s Contender Series and after getting his shot in the UFC, he won on his debut at UFC Fight Night 240 back in April. He will look to follow up that unanimous decision win and improve on his impressive record which has seen him rack up 25 wins; largely in the regional circuit in his native Brazil. 10 of those wins have come by submission but he has also registered seven via knockout suggesting a well-rounded skillset for the 31-year-old.

FARID BASHARAT VS VICTOR HUGO PREDICTION

We have a really interesting bantamweight match up on the prelims at UFC 308 as Farid Basharat meets Victor Hugo. Both have built the majority of their CVs outside of the UFC but it is Basharat who has had the greater experience within the Octagon at the higher level.

Victor Hugo has an impressive set of skills and has good power in his striking, while possessing good submissions skills on the ground. Basharat has the better wrestling though and that will be his key route to victory here. He will look to control this fight with his grappling and it will be interesting to see if he can impose his will on the Brazilian and frustrate him.

We favour Basharat to just about get enough control especially in the second and third rounds. He is a little more polished than Hugo and while the stoppage will be super impressive, we see this going to the scorecards.

PREDICTION: FARID BASHARAT TO WIN VIA DECISION
