IN BRIEF

  • Lewis Hamilton’s strong start to 2020 continued but he could not make it four wins in a row as he had to settle for second spot in last week’s 70th Anniversary Grand Prix.
  • Hamilton and teammate Valtteri Bottas had been first past the line in all four races so far but their run was broken by Red Bull last week thanks to a classy drive from Max Verstappen.
  • Attention now turns to the Spanish GP but Hamilton appears to be the man to stop having won the last three races at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
  • Verstappen will hope he is the man to topple Hamilton on the back of last week’s win and the Dutchman will believe he can finish on the podium at the very least having done so in his last four races.

THE PREDICTION

Max Verstappen rose to second in the standings with a win in last week’s 70th Anniversary Grand Prix and he will be confident of closing the gap on Lewis Hamilton in Spain. The Brit possesses a 30-point lead at this early stage of the campaign but Verstappen has driven consistently well so far and he will hope to back-up last week’s effort. Having finished on the podium in his last four races, Verstappen is a man in form and looks the most likely to break-up the Mercedes dominance but even if he is unable to get himself past the chequered flag in first place, another podium spot beckons.
