• The 2020 F1 season will make its belated return as the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria plays hosts to the maiden event of the campaign.

• The Brit enjoyed a superb weekend in practice and in the early stages of qualifying with pole position looking a formality but he was pipped by Valtteri Bottas.

THE PREDICTION

Mercedes laid down a marker for the season in the opening qualifying of the year in Austria with Valtteri Bottas leading Lewis Hamilton in a 1-2 on the grid. They will hope that is the case during the race too but Max Verstappen looks like their biggest danger having qualified in third. The Dutchman has won this race on the last two occasions and will be seeking a hat-trick of successes but preference goes to Hamilton who can begin the defence of his Drivers’ Championship with maximum points.
