QATAR PREVIEW: ON THE BOARD AFTER POOR START
Qatar needed to get something out of their last game against Korea DPR after losing 1-3 at the hands of UAE. They did so in a thrilling clash that ended in a 2-2 draw. After falling behind, Qatar drew level from the penalty spot before taking the lead just before half time. However, Korea DPR rallied in the second half to salvage a point.
Having both their strikers get on the scoresheet would have been pleasing for Qatar, as both Afif and Ali will be crucial to their chances of success over the course of this next international break and the two fixtures they have.
KYRGYZSTAN PREVIEW: ONLY GROUP A NATION WITHOUT A POINT
It’s been a real struggle so far for Kyrgyzstan, who are already in trouble and facing an uphill climb when it comes to qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They’ve played two Group A fixtures so far and both ended with them on the losing end. First against Iran, which saw them put up a good fight but were ultimately beaten 1-0.
Kyrgyzstan’s second group match took place in Bishkek vs Uzbekistan and in an entertaining, end-to-end battle, the hosts came out on the wrong end of the result, losing 2-3 despite twice taking the lead over the course of the game.
