THE TEAM NEWS

INTER MILAN

Juan Cuadrado and Marko Arnautovic are the only injured players in the Inter camp, so Simone Inzaghi has plenty of options at his disposal. Indeed, the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Denzel Dumfries were rested in the Serie A win at Torino over the weekend, but are primed to come back into the XI.

Veteran Chilean Alexis Sanchez is an option up front, but Inzaghi is likely to opt for Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez, both of whom are finding the net with regularity.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Çalhanoğlu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Martínez

UNAVAILABLE: Cuadrado (Injured), Arnautović (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

SALZBURG

The injury situation at Salzburg is a little more concerning with several players absent through injury, so boss Gerhard Struber will have to dig deep into his squad for this contest.

Fernando, Sekou Koita, Kamil Piatkowski and Aleksa Terzic have all been ruled out of the trip to Milan, while Mads Bidstrup is suffering from illness at the moment and his participation is in doubt.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Schlager; Dedić, Solet, Pavlović, Ulmer; Capaldo, Gourna-Douath, Kjaergaard; Gloukh; Šimić, Konaté

UNAVAILABLE: Fernando (Injured), Koïta (Injured), Piątkowski (Injured), Terzić (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Bidstrup (Illness)

THE PREDICTION

Salzburg can often be a fairly competitive side in the Champions League, and indeed they haven’t lost an away match in any competition since February, but some injuries to key members of their squad will make it difficult for them against the Serie A leaders here. Salzburg come into this off the back of a disappointing home defeat to LASK on Saturday, and it could well be back-to-back defeats come the final whistle in this one. Inter are clicking nicely right now with the Thuram and Martinez partnership working particularly well, and given the fact they have kept clean sheets in three of their last four games, a win to nil for Simone Inzaghi’s side is predicted.

TIP: INTER MILAN TO WIN TO NIL
