THE PREDICTION

The ‘Derby della Madonnina’ is always a special occasion, but this Champions League semi-final showdown between inter-city rivals AC Milan and Internazionale has to be one of the most anticipated collisions in the fixture’s history. Whilst the two legs will both be played at the ‘San Siro’, AC Milan are the home side for this first-leg. However, they are sweating over the fitness of star-man Rafael Leao following an injury he sustained over the weekend. The speedy Portuguese attacker is so important in Milan, particularly on the counter-attack and he was responsible for setting up both his side’s goals against Napoli in the quarter-finals.

Even if Leao was to be passed fit to play, Milan are likely to find it hard breaking down an Internazionale side with three clean sheets in their last four Champions League fixtures. Milan though, have conceded less goals than Inter over the course of the knockout stage so far and neither will want to take too many risks offensively that could see them caught out at the other end of the pitch. Therefore, backing under 2.5 goals scored has to be favoured here.
