THE LOWDOWN
REAL SOCIEDAD
Imanol Aguacil finally led Real Sociedad into the UEFA Champions League group stages with a top four finish last season after a few years of starting very well before eventually fading. La Real have lost something in terms of personnel with an injury to David Silva and the Basque club opted to not directly replace the Spaniard.
In their opening six matches of the season across all competitions they have managed just one victory but their performances have remained impressive, especially Japanese attacker Takefusa Kubo. They come into this on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Internazionale in their most recent outing in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
GETAFE
Last season, Getafe struggled throughout the campaign and they only narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the 2023/24 La Liga season. They had to move on Quique Sanchez Flores and return to Jose Bordalas, who once led the Madrid-based club into the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League.
Bordalas’ style is aggressive and defensive with the aggression already being showcased consistently this season. They began with a goalless draw at home to Barcelona on the opening day of the season with 26 minutes of added time in total. Since then they have managed two wins and also suffered two defeats as they sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table.

THE PREDICTION
Despite both teams being able to overperform general expectations under their respective managers, neither of them do so in an overly attacking manner. Real Sociedad press more than any other team in the league and that is why they often drift off in the second-half of the campaign. Getafe are a very low-scoring and defensive team with the aggressive management of Jose Bordalas. La Real are favourites, especially with their home advantage, but under 2.5 goals is very likely.
TIP: REAL SOCIEDAD TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
