THE LOWDOWN

REAL MADRID

Real Madrid have been as Real Madrid as ever this season with Carlo Ancelotti smartly and flexibly dealing with several injury concerns throughout the campaign to still somehow have them heading into the final few months of the campaign sitting comfortably at the top-of-the-table and also one of the favourites for the UEFA Champions League.

Los Blancos, though, were held to a 1-1 draw by Rayo Vallecano last weekend with former player Raul de Tomas scored an equaliser after Joselu’s opener. Dani Carvajal was sent off in second-half stoppage-time in that one but Madrid’s title aspirations have not been dented and they are six points clear after Girona were then beaten on Monday by Athletic.

SEVILLA

Sevilla have been in a relegation battle throughout the campaign with a continued underperformance regardless of who has been in charge at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Quique Sanchez Flores, who has followed on from Jorge Sampaoli and Jose Luis Mendilibar this season, does finally appear to be getting a tune out of things in Andalusia.

The home team come into this one on the back of a four-match unbeaten run of form in La Liga. Sevilla shared a goalless draw at Mestalla with a European chasing Valencia last weekend, followed on from back-to-back victories against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano, winning 1-0 and 2-1 respectively against capital city opposition.

THE TEAM NEWS

Jude Bellingham is joined on the sidelines by both Dani Carvajal and Eduardo Camavinga due to suspension, whilst the likes of Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois remain out, too.

QUESTIONABLE:

SEVILLA

Sevilla are without Erik Lamela and Lucas Ocampos for this weekend’s trip to the capital, with Marcos Acuna and Tanguy Nianzou among those that are doubtful, too.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Nyland; Navas, Bade, Benavides Fuentes, Pedrosa; Sow, Joan Jordan, Soumare, Januzaj; En-Nesyri, Romero

UNAVAILABLE: Lamela (Injured), Ocampos (Injured), Agoume (Injured), Marcao (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Acuna (Injured), Nianzou (Injured), Mariano Diaz (Injured), Gudelj (Injured), Lukebakio (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

A few weeks ago, this one appeared to be a foregone conclusion with the likelihood being that Real Madrid produce an absolute thumping of Sevilla. However, Los Blancos will be keen on getting through the next few weeks without many more major injury issues as they set up the run-in. Sevilla, on the other hand, are very much still involved in the relegation battle but have been improving of late. Despite that improvement, Real Madrid should grind out yet another victory in this one.

TIP: REAL MADRID TO WIN
