THE LOWDOWN

REAL MADRID

Real Madrid heavily rotated last weekend as they travelled north to the Basque Country to face Real Sociedad at the Anoeta but the champions-elect still managed to grind their way to victory against La Real. Young Turkish international Arda Guler scored the winner in that game and Los Blancos are expected to rotate once again for this season.

The reason for the heavy rotation is because Real Madrid have pretty much romped their way to the title and they are in the middle of their UEFA Champions League semi-final tie against German giants Bayern Munich, coming into this weekend on the back of a 2-2 draw in the first-leg at the Allianz Arena.

CADIZ

It has been a tough campaign for Cadiz as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places, now five points adrift of safety with five games to go. The Andalusians have generally improved, though, in the last few months and have returned to their stubborn ways.

That improvement began with the departure of Sergio in January, followed by the appointment of former Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino. They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Real Mallorca last weekend in a game whereby Vedat Muriqi opened the scoring after 12 minutes before Omar Mascarell’s 59th minute own goal levelled things for Cadiz.

THE TEAM NEWS

REAL MADRID

There remains a couple of injury issues at the back for Real Madrid with both Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba still unavailable but Alaba is reportedly progressing well. Rotation is expected.

PREDICTED XI (4-1-2-1-2): Lunin; Carvajal, Militao, Nacho, Fran Garcia; Camavinga; Modric, Ceballos; Brahim Diaz; Joselu, Arda Guler

UNAVAILABLE: Courtois (Injured), Alaba (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

CADIZ

The likes of Jorge Mere and Luis Hernandez remain out injured for Cadiz this weekend, whilst both Aiham Ousou and Lucas Pires are doubtful, too.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Ledesma; Carcelen, Chust, Fali, J. Hernandez; Sobrino, Alex, Ruben Alcaraz, Navarro; Ramos, Juanmi

UNAVAILABLE: Mere (Injured), Mari (Injured), Kouame (Injured), L. Hernandez (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Pires (Injured), Ousou (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

There is a chance Real Madrid win the league title this weekend because if they defeat Cadiz then they will extend their lead at the top-of-the-table to 14 points before Barcelona and Girona face each other. If Girona win or draw then Madrid will be Liga champions. They will heavily rotate against a Cadiz side that have scored comfortably the fewest goals in La Liga this season with just 23 notched. A fringe eleven from Madrid against a low-scoring Cadiz side means a disjointed home win appears likely.

TIP: REAL MADRID TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
