GETAFE PREVIEW: GETAFE STRUGGLING

Jose Bordalas led Getafe to seventh in La Liga and then the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League football well above expectations using an aggressive and hostile style of football which created an aggressive rivalry against Valencia. He departed for Valencia but has since returned to the Coliseum for this weekend.

The Madrid-based club have struggled at the start of this season and they have begun the 2024/25 campaign with one victory, six draws and three defeats in their opening ten matches. Their 1-1 draw with Villarreal at El Madrigal last weekend means they have suffered just one defeat in their last five matches in La Liga.

VALENCIA PREVIEW: THE FALLEN GIANT

Off-field protests against owner Peter Lim have continued and been heightened in the last few weeks with Valencia continuing to struggle and Los Che begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting rock-bottom in La Liga with just one win in their opening ten matches so far this season.

They were 19th in the table but slipped below Las Palmas last weekend with a 3-2 defeat at home to Las Palmas in their most recent outing at Mestalla last weekend. Valencia had opened the scoring in the 14th minute via Pepelu before Las Palmas turned the game on its head via Aitor Munoz, Fabio Silva and Alberto Moleiro. Pepelu was sent off and ten-man Valencia did get themselves a goal back in second-half stoppage-time via Cesar Tarrega.

GETAFE TEAM NEWS: NO DEFINITE ABSENTEES

The home team have no definite injury or suspension absentees for this weekend’s clash with Valencia so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.

They have had some indifferent choices in attack with a limited and depleted squad. Former Real Madrid forward Borja Mayoral is a doubt for the clash with Valencia.

GETAFE VS VALENCIA PREDICTION

Getafe and Valencia have built up a rivalry in the last few years as a result of Jose Bordalas. It was born before he made the move to Mestalla but then became heightened when he swapped Getafe for Valencia. The two teams are set to be involved in La Liga’s relegation battle throughout the campaign. The hosts have suffered just three defeats all season and will be confident of avoiding defeat against the rock-bottom crisis club at the Coliseum this weekend.
