THE LOWDOWN

GETAFE

Under the management of Jose Bordalas, who returned to the club in March last year, Getafe are aiming for another impressive finish with the boss as they try and aim for a top seven finish and a return to European football. They have made themselves typically difficult to beat but have also began to flex their muscles a little more in forward areas.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 3-2 defeat away to Osasuna in their most recent outing, last weekend. That loss did also follow a defeat to Sevilla in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey. However, prior to those back-to-back defeats, Getafe had enjoyed a couple of months where they suffered just two losses in 16 matches across all competitions.

GRANADA

Following promotion to the top-flight of Spanish football last season, Granada have endured an extremely difficult campaign, albeit performances have improved since late autumn and following the arrival of Uruguayan coach Alexander Medina, who replaced Paco Lopez. The Andalusians begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places.

Granada’s most recent outing was a defeat at home to Atletico Madrid last Monday with Alvaro Morata scoring a 54th minute winner in that match. That made it back-to-back 1-0 losses for the visitors and they have managed just two victories in La Liga all season. They have remained entertaining, though, with their 21 games producing 64 goals.

THE TEAM NEWS

GETAFE

Mauro Arambarri is out injured and Getafe are also without the likes of Damian Suarez, Luis Milla and Jose Angel Carmona due to suspension.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Soria; Djene, Alvarez, Alderete, Rico; Alena, Oscar, Maksimovic, Greenwood; Mayoral, Unal

UNAVAILABLE: Suarez (Suspended), Milla (Suspended), Carmona (Suspended), Arambarri (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

GRANADA

Both Martin Hongla and Lucas Boye are out suspended for this weekend’s trip to the capital, whilst Poland international Kamil Piatkowski is also a doubt.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Batalla; Sanchez, Mendez, Miquel, Neva; Gerard Gumbau, Ruiz, Villar; Zaragoza, Callejon, Uzuni

UNAVAILABLE: Hongla (Suspended), Boye (Suspended), Fernandez (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Sanchez (Injured), Piatkowski (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Getafe, as has been said, have begun to play a different style of football on Jose Bordalas with more of an emphasis on attacking play. They remain a team set up to contain their opposition but have scored 26 goals in their 20 matches so far this season. Given that they are overwhelming favourites and have home advantage against Granada on Monday, they should be backed but Granada’s games averaging over three goals per game so far this season would allow for an extra boosting of the odds.

TIP: GETAFE TO WIN & OVER 1.5 GOALS
