GETAFE PREVIEW: GRIM GETAFE

After seven matches so far this season, Getafe are one of just two sides to remain winless as they sit right down in the bottom three and the relegation places ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. The management of Jose Bordalas, in his second stint in charge at the club, is beginning to be questioned.

The Madrid-based outfit come into this one on the back of yet another solid and difficult to breakdown performance in midweek as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to rampant league leaders Barcelona at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in their most recent outing. Their seven games so far this season have consisted of just nine goals.

ALAVES PREVIEW: ALAVES ARE ALIVE

In their second season back in the top-flight following promotion via the playoffs in the summer of 2023, Deportivo Alaves are enjoying a really impressive start to the campaign in which they begin the weekend sitting comfortably inside the top-half of the table thanks to three victories already so far this season.

Under the management of Luis Garcia Plaza, the Basque club come into this one on the back of a 3-2 defeat away to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in midweek in a game in which Los Blancos had raced into a 3-0 lead by the 48th minute before quickfire goals from Carlos Benavidez and Kike Garcia gave Alaves slight hope of a stunning comeback.

GETAFE TEAM NEWS: BORJA BACK, ALVARO OUT

Goals are a massive issue for Getafe so the return of Borja Mayoral from injury is a massive boost for Jose Bordalas but he still has what is a depleted and small squad.

Summer signing Alvaro Rodriguez, on loan from Real Madrid, would and should add firepower but he is also now out injured alongside Nabil Aberdin.

PREDICTED XI (5-3-2): David Soria; Jorge Iglesias, Djene, Jon Berrocal, Omar Alderete, Diego Rico; Mauro Arambarri, Joan Santiago, Luis Milla; Yildirim, Borja Mayoral

UNAVAILABLE: Aberdin (Injured), Alvaro (Injured)

ALAVES TEAM NEWS: NO TENAGLIA

Luis Garcia Plaza would be wanting to change as little as possible in every game at the moment but he does have to deal with a key injury concern at the back for this weekend.

Right-back Nahuel Tenaglia has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign but will be sidelined this weekend as a result of a muscle injury.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Antonio Sivera; Santiago Mourino, Abqar, Diarra, Manu Sanchez; Hugo Novoa, Carlos Benavidez, Antonio Blanco, Conechny; Luka Romero, Asier Villalibre

UNAVAILABLE: Tenaglia (Injured)

GETAFE VS ALAVES PREDICTION

Getafe come into this having failed to win and scored just three goals. Despite that, and despite some questions being raised, there is still a belief that Jose Bordalas will be the man to lift them up the table. Alaves, in contrast, have actually been entertaining to watch with their seven games consisting of 21 goals. The likelihood is that the force of Getafe’s defensive resilience will be enough to limit Alaves’ newfound attacking prowess to create what would be a dull encounter.

GETAFE VS ALAVES TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
