THE LOWDOWN

CELTA VIGO

Rafa Benitez remains in charge of Celta Vigo but he has been generally under pressure throughout the campaign with the Galicians involved in yet another relegation battle. Their performances, though, have been better than their results have shown but they do remain in the bottom three and the relegation places ahead of this one.

The home team come into this on the back of a third successive draw as they shared a goalless draw at Vallecas against Rayo Vallecano. They have managed just one win in their 16 La Liga matches so far this season and begin this weekend sitting three points behind Cadiz, who are currently safe from relegation in 17th.

GRANADA

Following promotion last season, Granada have struggled throughout the campaign as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places. The Andalusians have managed just one victory in their 16 matches so far this season in the 2023/24 La Liga campaign.

Paco Lopez has already been replaced as manager with Uruguayan coach, Alexander Medina, coming in and not really improving performances or results so far this season. Their most recent outing did see them hold high-flying, top four chasing Athletic Club to a 1-1 draw last weekend in a game that had to be initially abandoned on Sunday and completed on Monday.

GRANADA

Granada have a couple of injury concerns for this weekend with key defender Jesus Vallejo remaining a doubt, whilst Raul Fernandez is out injured.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Ferreira; Manafa, Miquel, Torrente, Neva; Melendo, Gerard Gumbau, Villar; Uzuni, Boye, Fernandez

THE PREDICTION

We have a real six-pointer down at the bottom of La Liga on Saturday evening as Celta take on Granada. Both sides have struggled throughout the season but, as mentioned, it is the hosts that will remain the favourites for this one – especially at Balaidos. Pressure remains on Benitez and his side but their performances have been a little better than their results so far and they should come out on top in this one in their fight against finishing in the bottom three.

TIP: CELTA TO WIN
