THE LOWDOWN

BARCELONA

Having already announced his departure at the end of the season, there is a concern that Barcelona will simply go through the motions between now and the end of the campaign, despite the fact that the Blaugrana remain in the UEFA Champions League with an upcoming Round of 16 tie against a Napoli side in a similar level of flux at the moment.

They do come into this one on the back of much-needed victories in the last ten days, edging past Osasuna by a goal to nil before going to the Basque Country and defeating Alaves by three goals to one. They remain open at the back with lots of injury concerns and a manager already going through the exit door as we head into the final few months.

GRANADA

Following promotion last season, Granada have endured a very difficult campaign as they languish firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places. The Andalusians have managed just two victories in their 23 matches so far this season and do appear destined for an immediate return to the second-tier, already eight points adrift of safety.

Under the management of Uruguayan coach Alexander Medina, who replaced Paco Lopez earlier this season, Granada come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Las Palmas in a game in which they took the lead when down to ten men, gave it up mid-way through the second-half but then couldn’t take advantage of their opposition also then being reduced to ten.

THE PREDICTION

Slowly and steadily, Barcelona are putting together a run of form since aforementioned announcement of Xavi’s departure in a few months. That run of form, though, to be blunt, is not to be trusted or believed will continue into the final few months of the campaign. Having said that. They are hosting an extremely poor Granada side that are destined for the drop and a fairly comfortable home win remains the likeliest outcome here.

TIP: BARCELONA TO WIN
