BARCELONA PREVIEW: BRILLIANT BLAUGRANA

Things became tired and stale at the end of Xavi Hernandez’ reign last season but former Bayern Munich and Germany boss Hansi Flick has managed to really get to grips with his Barcelona side, instilling an intensity and urgency to their play that has them sitting at the top of La Liga with six wins out of six so far this season.

In those six matches, the Blaugrana have managed to score 22 goals, too, with 16 of those coming in just their last three games. They went away to previously unbeaten Villarreal and hammered Marcelino’s Yellow Submarine by five goals to one at El Madrigal with a particularly impressive performance from Lamine Yamal.

GETAFE PREVIEW: GRAFTING GETAFE

In his second stint in charge of Getafe, Jose Bordalas has not quite yet instilled the typical aggression and hostility that he has become renowned for. With such a depleted squad, despite previous successes with Jose Bordalas, it has to be the case that avoiding relegation would be a success for the visitors.

After six matches so far this season, Getafe remain winless but with their conservative and generally defensive style of football, they have suffered just two defeats. They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Leganes at the Coliseum in a Madrid derby at the weekend with Borja Mayoral scoring an 83rd minute equaliser from the penalty spot.

BARCELONA TEAM NEWS: SEVERAL ABSENTEES FOR BARCA

The long Barcelona injury list has grown even further with number one goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, now sidelined due to suffering an ACL injury.

The German joins a long list of injuries such to key players such as Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong and Dani Olmo with Ferran Torres also missing through suspension still.

PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Inaki Pena; Kounde, Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, Alex Balde; Eric Garcia; Lamine Yamal, Pablo Torre, Pedri, Raphinha; Lewandowski

UNAVAILABLE: Ter Stegen (Injured), Ronald Araujo (Injured), Christensen (Injured), Marc Bernal (Injured), De Jong (Injured), Gavi (Injured), Fermin Lopez (Injured), Dani Olmo (Injured), Ferran Torres (Suspended)

GETAFE TEAM NEWS: THE IMPORTANCE OF BORJA MAYORAL

Borja Mayoral returned from injury and scored at the weekend and that is crucial after Christantus Uche played out of position up-front in the early stages of the season.

Summer signing Alvaro Rodriguez remains sidelined for the visitors with a small and depleted Getafe side also still without injured midfielder Nabil Aberdin.

PREDICTED XI (5-3-2): David Soria; Jorge Iglesias, Djene, Jon Berrocal, Omar Alderete, Diego Rico; Mauro Arambarri, Jesus Santiago, Luis Milla; Yildirim, Uche

UNAVAILABLE: Aberdin (Injured), Alvaro (Injured)

BARCELONA VS GETAFE PREDICTION

Barcelona do have quite a small squad at the moment and the amount of injuries could potentially expose that with midweek football a potential issue, especially shown in defeat to Monaco in the UEFA Champions League last week. However, it would be harsh to focus on any negatives at the moment and the fact of the matter is they are sweeping everyone aside in Spain. There will come a time when they don’t annihilate a side and Getafe very rarely get beat, let alone hammered, so whilst Barca should win, a lower scoring affair seems likely.

BARCELONA VS GETAFE TIP: BARCELONA TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
