THE LOWDOWN

SALERNITANA

It has been a terrible campaign throughout this season as Salernitana sit rock-bottom in Serie A and seemingly destined to drop into Serie B. They began the campaign under Paulo Sousa but he was replaced by Filippo Inzaghi in the autumn and, despite an improvement in performances, their results have remained very poor.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat home to Genoa in their most recent outing, last weekend. That was their third successive loss in Serie A but they have become quite entertaining to watch. For example, their last 11 matches across all competitions have consisted of 39 goals with both teams scoring in nine of those games.

ROMA

At the start of last week, Roma decided to part company with Jose Mourinho in his third season in charge of the Giallorossi. He was replaced by Roman legend, Daniele De Rossi, and the capital city club began the De Rossi reign with an improved performance as they defeated an in-form Hellas Verona by two goals to one at Stadio Olimpico.

Since that victory over Verona, Roma have been to Saudi Arabia in midweek for a friendly at the Al-Awwal Stadium against Al Shabab which they won by two goals to one. Roma are hoping to play a better style of football in the last few months of this season with De Rossi intending to implement a more sophisticated and enterprising style of football.

THE TEAM NEWS

QUESTIONABLE:

ROMA

Chris Smalling could return for Roma this weekend but Evan Ndicka is away on international duty, whilst Leandro Paredes it out suspended.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-2-1): Patricio; Karsdorp, Huijsen, Diego Llorente, Zalewski; Bove, Pisilli, Pellegrini; Dybala, Il Faraone; Lukaku

THE PREDICTION

As mentioned, Salernitana have been much-improved of late and a lot better to watch than they have been. Filippo Inzaghi has got his Salerno-based side to become a genuinely attacking threat against any teams that they face. They now come up against a Roma team that will want to be a little more progressive and proactive so this could well be quite an entertaining encounter in which both teams scoring seems a good bet.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
