ROMA PREVIEW: OUT OF THEIR HANDS

In January, Roma took the decision to sack Jose Mourinho and replaced him with club legend Daniele De Rossi. The Giallorossi immediately improved and began to play a much more enjoyable style of football, too. However, the Romans are fading out towards the end of the season and are unlikely to finish in the top five and earn themselves UEFA Champions League qualification.

Their most recent outing saw them travel north to Bergamo and suffer a 2-1 loss to Atalanta. Charles De Ketelaere scored an early first-half brace before Lorenzo Pellegrini notched mid-way through the second-half. That means they have now managed just five victories in their last 14 matches across all competitions.

GENOA PREVIEW: THE DISTRACTION OF OFF-FIELD ISSUES

777 Partners are under intense scrutiny all over the world with their collection of clubs protesting their ownership as law enforcement in the United States look into their dealings. Standard Liege, Vasco da Gama and Everton are among those clubs, as well as Genoa, where they have missed tax payments.

On the pitch, though, Genoa gained promotion to the top-flight last season, embarked upon an ambitious summer transfer window that saw the arrival of the likes of Ruslan Malinovskiy and Mateo Retegui with 2006 FIFA World Cup winner Alberto Gilardino living them comfortably into the middle-of-the-table this season.

ROMA TEAM NEWS: DYBALA A DOUBT

Leonardo Spinazzola, who was one of the best players at UEFA EURO 2020, will miss UEFA EURO 2024 for Italy due to a muscle injury. Their key attacker, Paulo Dybala, may also be missing and he is a doubt for this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Svilar; Kristensen, Mancini, Ndicka, Tasende; Cristante, Paredes; El Shaarawy, Baldanzi, Pellegrini; Lukaku

UNAVAILABLE: Spinazzola (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Dybala (Injured)

GENOA TEAM NEWS: MALINOVSKIY STILL OUT

Ruslan Malinovskiy, who has just been named in Ukraine’s 26-man squad for UEFA EURO 2024, is unavailable due to a thigh injury and he is sidelined alongside former Marseille striker Vitinha as well as Mattia Bani.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Josep Martinez; Vogliacco, De Winter, Johan Vasquez; Sabelli, Thorsby, Badelj, Frendrup, Caricol; Gudmundsson, Retegui

UNAVAILABLE: Vitinha (Injured), Bani (Injured), Malinovskiy (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

ROMA VS GENOA PREDICTION

Roma look absolutely knackered. They were outstanding for a lot of Daniele De Rossi’s reign but the Romans have really dropped off and could even be caught by their arch-rivals Lazio, who have been reinvigorated under the management of Igor Tudor. Genoa will go to the capital and will play their typically reactive style of football and it will be a case of Roma having to force the issue but whether they have the energy to do so is another question so, regardless of whether or not they can, backing a low-scoring encounter seems likely.

ROMA VS GENOA TIP: UNDER 3.5 GOALS
