THE LOWDOWN
JUVENTUS
A hefty points deduction meant that Juventus finished seventh in Serie A last season, eventually being disqualified from the UEFA Europa Conference League by UEFA for this season. Massimiliano Allegri remains in charge of an Old Lady side that are in desperate need of an evolution of the club, both on and off the pitch.
The Turin-based club come into this on the back of one of the duller matches that will take place this season as Atalanta and Juventus shared a goalless draw in Bergamo, last weekend. They have suffered just one loss in their opening seven matches as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots.
TORINO
Ivan Juric has often been criticised for his time in charge of Torino for being a little too defensive and too controlling in his tactics. Whilst mainly easy on the eye, goal scoring has been an issue for the Turin-based outfit as they sit firmly ensconced in the middle-of-the-table with little expectation of pushing towards the top seven and the European spots.
They begin the weekend sitting exactly tenth after seven matches in the 2023/24 Serie A table. The have started with two victories, three draws and two defeats but those key scoring issues have been evident once again with just six goals scored. Their most recent outing was a goalless draw against Juric’s former side Hellas Verona last Monday.

THE PREDICTION
‘Derby della Mole’ has been one of the more one-sided major city rivalries in European football in the last half a century or so and it could well be a hard watch. Juventus are naturally defensive and pragmatic under the management of Massimiliano Allegri and, in a game where reputation is on the line, that is expected to be the case once again. Torino have scored just six goals in seven matches so far this season and this may not be a thriller for the neutral, regardless of the outcome.
