THE LOWDOWN

JUVENTUS

In his second stint charge of the Old Lady, Massimiliano Allegri did have Juventus firmly in the Serie A title race in mid-January but performances remained underwhelming. Then they suffered a 1-0 loss to Internazionale at San Siro in the Derby d’Italia and that has begun something of a collapse from the Bianconeri.

They come into this one on the back of sharing a 2-2 draw with Atalanta at the J Stadium in Turin last weekend with Teun Koopmeiners scoring a brace for the Bergamasci after goals from Andrea Cambiaso and Arkadiusz Milik had given Juve a 2-1 lead. They have now managed just one win in their last seven matches in Serie A.

GENOA

After gaining promotion back to the top-flight last season, Genoa have embarked upon an impressive campaign whereby they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table under the management of 2006 FIFA World Cup winning striker Alberto Gilardino, who took charge of the club mid-way through last season.

Genoa come into this one on the back of a 3-2 defeat at home to Monza in their most recent outing, last weekend, which saw Daniel Maldini, the son of Paolo, score a 79th minute winner in the game. They have been relatively entertaining to watch this season and are firmly ensconced in mid-table with not much room to move up or go down the league.

THE TEAM NEWS

QUESTIONABLE:

GENOA

Genoa have a couple of availability issues for themselves as Alan Matturro is a doubt this weekend. Stefano Sabelli is also suspended for this one.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Martinez; De Winter, Bani, Vasquez; Spence, Messias, Badelj, Frendrup, Caricol; Retegui, Gudmundsson

UNAVAILABLE: Sabelli (Suspended)

QUESTIONABLE: Matturro (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Juventus are simply not to be trusted at the moment. They are pretty much assured of a spot in the top four but they have been so underwhelming of late and, surprisingly because it is out of character, susceptible at the back. They face a Genoa side that have been steady this season but are enduring a difficult patch of form. Despite their recent leaky nature, Juve should be able to squeeze out on top in what is likely to be a frustrating watch for the neutral on Sunday afternoon.

TIP: JUVENTUS TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
