INTER MILAN PREVIEW: INTRICATE INTER

Former Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi has been extremely impressive in charge of Internazionale as they look to defend the Italian title. They romped to the title last season when they won the league with absolute ease, collecting their 20th Scudetto and earning a second star upon the Nerazzurri badge.

Inter come into this one on the back of a couple of indifferent performances but a couple of matches in which they managed to grind out victories. They defeated Roma by a goal to nil at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend before defeating Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

JUVENTUS PREVIEW: NEW ERA FOR THE OLD BOYS

Over the summer, Juventus decided to evolve their style and squad with a younger and fresher, more dynamic look with the appointment of former Bologna boss Thiago Motta, who managed to produce something of a miracle to get Bologna a fifth placed spot and UEFA Champions League qualification last season.

The Bianconeri come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat at home to Stuttgart in the J Stadium in their most recent outing in midweek. They remain unbeaten in Serie A but have been frustrated with four draws in their eight matches so far this season – three of which have been goalless.

INTER MILAN TEAM NEWS: SEVERAL ABSENTEES

Internazionale are dealing with several injury absentees for this one and Inzaghi’s side have been complaining quite a lot about fatigue and the amount of games they have to play.

Turkey captain Hakan Calhanoglu is a doubt for this one alongside both Francesco Acerbi and Carlos Augusto with both Kristjan Asllani and Tajon Buchanan both doubts.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Frattesi, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro Martinez

UNAVAILABLE: Acerbi (Injured), Carlos Augusto (Injured), Calhanoglu (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Asllani (Injured), Buchanan (Injured0

JUVENTUS TEAM NEWS: OLD LADY’S ABSENTEES

Juventus have quite a few absentees for this weekend’s clash at San Siro as centre-back Bremer is out for the foreseeable future following his injury against Leipzig earlier this month.

As well as the Brazilian centre-back, Juventus are also missing the likes of Teun Koopmeiners and Nicolas Gonzalez with Douglas Luiz an injury doubt, too.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Di Gregorio; Savona, Gatti, Kalulu, Juan Cabal; Thuram, Locatelli, Fagioli; Cambiaso, Vlahovic, Yildiz

UNAVAILABLE: Bremer (Injured), Pogba (Suspended), Koopmeiners (Injured), Gonzalez (Injured), Milik (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Douglas Luiz (Injured)

INTER MILAN VS JUVENTUS PREDICTION

What Inter have created themselves to be under the management of Inzaghi is an aggressive and slick, incisive side when at their best but even at their worst they have a ruthless efficiency that marks them out still as the team to beat in Italy. Juventus will go to San Siro with a developing style of football that is entertaining and easier on the eye but lacks that aforementioned ruthlessness. In a clash of styles, it’ll likely be the gnarled and experienced hosts that come out on top.
