FIORENTINA PREVIEW: FLUENT FIORENTINA

Fiorentina have been the runners’ up in each of the last two seasons in the UEFA Europa Conference League, losing to West Ham United and Olympiakos. I Viola lost their manager Vincenzo Italiano to Bologna over the summer and decided to recruit and appoint Monza boss Raffaele Palladino.

The Florentians come into this one on the back of a come from behind 4-2 defeat of St Gallen in the league phase of the UEFA Europa Conference League in midweek. That victory means they have now won five and drawn one of their last six matches across all competitions, scoring 16 goals in the process.

ROMA PREVIEW: ROMAN RUINS

Roma have already sacked club legend Daniele De Rossi in the early stages of this season with supporters expressing displeasure with the running of the club by the Friedkin Group. The Giallorossi have managed just two wins in their opening eight games in Serie A and they came in the short honeymoon period of new manager Ivan Juric.

Juric enjoyed those back-to-back victories around a month ago before their form slipped again with a defeat to Elfsborg in Sweden before a draw to Monza and then a loss at home to Internazionale last weekend. They did manage to edge past Dynamo Kyiv in the UEFA Europa League in midweek with an early Artem Dovbyk penalty.

FIORENTINA VS ROMA PREDICTION

Fiorentina lacked a bit of fluency at the start of the season when Palladino had switched Italiano’s four-at-the-back system to his preference of a back three but I Viola have been much-improved since reverting back to the four. Ivan Juric is struggling to get fans on side at Roma and the short-lived honeymoon period, if you can even call it that, is very much over. Fiorentina, especially at the Artemio Franchi, are the firm favourites for this one.

FIORENTINA VS ROMA TIP: FIORENTINA TO WIN
