THE LOWDOWN

ATALANTA

After another summer of upheaval and transition for Atalanta, they have lacked some fluency throughout the campaign, under the management of Gian Piero Gasperini. They remain one of the stronger sides in Serie A but, despite it being widely accepted as a transitional campaign, would still be hopeful of a top four finish and UEFA Champions League qualification.

The Bergamasci come into this one on the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw with a much-improved Udinese side a couple of weeks ago, prior to the international break. They have suffered just one defeat in their last six matches across all competitions but are sitting outside of the top four ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures.

NAPOLI

The defending champions went into the break and sacked their manager, Rudi Garcia, following just a few months in charge. It had appeared Igor Tudor was destined to get the job but instead Garcia has been replaced by the returning Walter Mazzarri until the end of the season in a move heavily criticised by Neapolitan supporters.

They went into the break on the back of a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Empoli, continuing their very underwhelming form which has been the case throughout the early stages of the defence of the Serie A title. They have managed just three wins in their last eight matches across all competitions since the start of October.

THE PREDICTION

This is a really intriguing match on Saturday afternoon with Atalanta capable of heaping the misery upon the champions and the champions finally looking to steady the ship with the steadiest of old hands in the dugout. Atalanta have not necessarily been as fluent and consistent as they would have liked but they’ll fancy their chances of attacking success against a leaky and vulnerable Napoli defence. Napoli, with Victor Osimhen potentially returning, always have the capability to score so this could be quite entertaining for the neutral.

BETTING TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
