THE LOWDOWN

AC MILAN

It has been a really impressive calendar year for AC Milan as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top four and they have even leapfrogged Juventus as they move towards Inter at the top-of-the-table. They are still 14 points adrift of their city rivals at the top of Serie A.

The Rossoneri come into this one on the back of an impressive 2-1 defeat of Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi, last weekend. Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored once again for Milan, continuing his own excellent form, before Rafael Leao’s 53rd minute winning goal. AC Milan have now enjoyed four successive Serie A victories.

LECCE

Last month, after headbutting Thomas Henry of Hellas Verona, Lecce decided to part company with Roberto D’Aversa and replaced him with Luca Gotti. The Apulia-based outfit do still, though, remain in the Italian relegation battle as they begin the match day sitting just four points above the bottom three and the relegation places.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a valiant and impressive goalless draw against an in-form and much-improved Roma side at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare on Easter Monday. They have played two games under Gotti, edging past Salernitana and holding a strong Roman side to a goalless draw.

THE TEAM NEWS

Stefano Pioli will be without several key men for this weekend as Ruben Loftus-Cheek is missing through suspension, whilst Pierre Kalulu and Tommaso Pobega are out injured.

LECCE

Lecce have a couple of injury concerns for themselves this weekend as Kastriot Dermaku and Mohamed Kaba are unavailable for the trip to San Siro.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Falcone; Gendrey, Pongracic, Baschirotto, Gallo; Almqvist, Blin, Ramadani, Dorgu; Krstovic, Piccoli

THE PREDICTION

These two sides are at opposite ends of the Serie A table. Milan are not involved in the title race and won’t be but could still end up with a healthy and impressive points total. Lecce, on the other hand, are sort of in a position of hoping that there are simply enough poor and faltering sides that their own poor performances and results manage to go unnoticed and they survive. Milan should win quite comfortably, especially at San Siro.

TIP: MILAN TO WIN
